Badal directs officers to visit villages

Asking the State Government officials to give due respect to the newly-elected sarpnaches and panches, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday directed them to personally visit the villages for taking stock of problems at the grass root level.

In fact, Badal has asked the babus to find some viable solution for mitigating people’s woes with the active support of the village heads — sarpanches and panches. “Rather than confining themselves to their offices, the officers must visit villages and interact with the elected representatives and people to solve the pending problems of the villages,” said Badal in his address at the oath-taking ceremony of the sarpanches and panches.

“This would not only help in strengthening the democracy at the ground level but would also go a long way in ensuring the comprehensive development of villages,” he added. In addition, Badal also directed the officers to give due respect to the sarpanches and panches in the matters pertaining to the villages. “Officer must accord top priority to the Panchayat or sarpanches and panches if they approach them for any public work,” he added. Giving a word of warning, Badal made it clear that any complaint regarding misconduct by officers with these people’s representatives would be dealt strictly.
