Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday appealed to his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Virbhadra Singh to “immediately” resume Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi ropeway project.
Recently, the Himachal Government scrapped the agreement for the construction of Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi ropeway which was to link the two sacred places in Punjab and Himachal respectively.
“Keeping in view the paramount socio-religious importance for both the States, Himachal Pradesh CM should immediately resume the project,” said Badal, while talking to the media persons on the sidelines of a religious congregation organised at Sri Radha Krishan Temple.
Badal even offered to bear the entire expenditure of the project besides conceding to initiate this prestigious project from Himachal’s territory.
On another inter-State issue of commencing express train from Nangal to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, the CM said that he would certainly take up this issue with the Union Railways Minister to expedite the schedule of chugging of this train between two important destinations as it would connect two Takhts — Kesgarh Sahib and Hazur Sahib.
Supporting Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate during the ensuing lok Sabha polls, Badal categorically said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), being a key ally of the BJP, would support any candidate for this coveted post. He expressed confidence that BJP-led NDA would certainly form next Government at the Centre showing door to the Congress-led UPA Government for their “misrule” and maladministration over one decade.
Badal pointed out that people were fed up with the rampant corruption, unemployment, poverty, inflation and starvation during its regime.
He said that the UPA Government has miserably failed to arrest the declining trend in the devaluation of Rupee, which has touched the lowest ebb several times recently.
