Badal accused of duplicity on corruption

launching a scathing attack on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi on Monday accused him of being double-faced on the issue of fighting corruption and asked him to spell out his stand on the matter.

While addressing a Press conference here, Bishnoi said that Badal on the one hand, openly campaigned for the INlD candidates against HJC-BJP candidates during lok Sabha elections in Haryana and at the same time, he is supporting the BJP candidates in Punjab against Congress on corruption issue.

Bishnoi had earlier written a strongly-worded letter to senior BJP leader lK Advani over Shiromani Akali Dal’s “open campaign” against the candidates of the BJP and its ally HJC a week back.

The HJC chief said that Badal was trying to make an alliance between the BJP and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala-led INlD for upcoming Assembly polls in Haryana in October this year. When asked whether Badal’s attempt to forge a tie-up between the INlD and BJP would put a question mark on the future of the HJC-BJP alliance, Bishnoi shot back “there is no question mark over the tie-up.”

“Who is Parkash Singh Badal, he is nobody. He is just the Chief Minister of Punjab and a part of the NDA,” reacted fiercely HJC chief.

“The person (Badal) is supporting the party (INlD) whose leaders (Chautala, his son Ajay and some others) are behind the bars,” he added.

He said, “Badal says in Punjab that their fight is against corruption and wants to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister. But in Haryana, he campaigns for the INlD, whose senior leaders are in jail for corruption and talks about defeating the BJP and the HJC. His credibility ends here,” added Bishnoi.

This exposed the two faces of Badal on the corruption issue, he said. Bishnoi said their alliance with the BJP was strong as ever.
