Condemning the attack on senior Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader Brig Jagdish Gagneja, who was shot at in Jalandhar on Saturday night, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday demanded impartial probe by the sitting judge of the High Court in the fierce attack on Gagneja.
“By the fierce attack on RSS leader, law and order situation in Punjab is badly exposed and people are forced to live under threat as police failed to provide them any sense of security,” said AAP’s national spokesman Sanjay Singh and Punjab Campaign Committee chairman and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, in a joint statement.
“Neither any religious granth is safe in Punjab nor any religious preacher, which could be evident from the repeated incidents of sacrilege and attack on religious leaders,” said AAP leaders.
“Although, we may have ideological differences with RSS but such type of attack on any person is highly condemnable,” said AAP leaders, while smelling a deep conspiracy behind attack on the RSS leader to disturb the communal harmony and peace of the border State.
Sanjay Singh said: “There is a dire need of impartial probe by the sitting judge of High Court, as Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the attack is expected to meet the same fate, which was met by earlier SITs to probe important cases like sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargadi.”
law and order situation in Punjab has deteriorated so low that no significant cases like murder of Mata Chand Kaur of Namdhari Sect, fierce attack on Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and missing of Swami Krishna Nand under mysterious circumstances could not be solved so far, said Bhagwant Mann.
