To uplift the people belonging to minority communities in the State, Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam has so far provided financial assistance of Rs 403.70 crore to more than 10,000 such beneficiaries. Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Kavita Jain, said that the Haryana Goverment had taken many steps for the benefit of minority communities in the State.

She said that the State Government had approved a high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, for regular reviewing of the Prime Minister’s 15-point programme. She said that this committee would review the programme on a quarterly basis and would also review the protection of interests of the minority committees.

She said that the Department has repaid Rs 11.08 crore to the National Minorities Development and Financial Corporation in lump sum under the ‘One-Time Settlement Scheme’ to recoup the amount of outstanding loan with interest as on March 31, 2013, which had been waived off by the previous government. This waiver had hindered the working of the Nigam. Jain said that the Haryana Government had taken the initiative to get funds for development of minority communities amounting to Rs 25 crore released by the Central Government. These funds had been pending for two years.

She said that two Industrial Training Institutes with a cost of Rs 5 crore each have been approved for Dharsul Kalan in district Fatehabad and Jiwan Nagar. Apart from this, work for upgradation of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyala from Class VIII to X plus two would be started at a cost of Rs 3 crore each.
