To support the followers of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS), who want to keep the body of their spiritual head Ashutosh Maharaj in freezer, an organisation in Delhi on Wednesday launched a missed call campaign. The organisation claimed that five lakh callers had given missed calls to make their voice heard loud and clear in support of letting the DJJS head Ashutosh Maharaj in samadhi (deep meditation).
The body of Ashutosh Maharaj, who was declared “clinically dead” by the doctors on January 29, has been kept in a freezing room, set at a suitable temperature to preserve the body, as the DJJS authorities have been claiming that Maharaj is not dead, rather he has gone into deep meditation.
As the matter was brought under the scanner of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, it set a 15-day deadline to perform Maharaj’s last rites — a decision that may possibly led to another standoff between the followers of a “godman” and the Government machinery.
Undeterred by the situation and determined that “Maharaj ji” would not be disturbed from his samadhi, the DJJS is making attempts to gain support to its stand. On one hand, DJJS is gearing up to hold a mega satsang on December 14 expecting a gathering of more than 70,000 devotees, it is, on the other, has started a missed call voting campaign to garners support.
“We have not started this voting campaign. Rather, it is some organisation in Delhi that has started this missed call voting campaign on Wednesday to garner support to our stand that Maharaj ji should not be disturbed and should let him continue with his samadhi peacefully,” DJJS spokesperson Swami Vishalananda told The Pioneer.
He said: “When we get to know about this, we have just asked them to include a ‘thank you from DJJS’ in the message that they will be sending after receiving a missed call.” Swami Vishalananda said that the organisation has informed that they have received five lakh calls so far, in a single day.
