Arora writes to Capt urging for roll back

Published on:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Sunam MLA Aman Arora has written another letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh urging him for roll back of all subsequent hikes in the power tariff affected during his tenure.

Arora also demanded scrapping of power purchase agreements (PPAs) entered into between the previous SAD-BJP Government and three private thermal power plants under which the state was bound to cough up a whopping amount of Rs 2800 crore annually to these private players even if they did not produce a single unit of power, stating that the agreement was set to drain out Punjab's resources up to Rs 70,000 crores in next 25 years under the agreement.

Stressing the urgent need for nailing down the official mafia calling the shots under the nose of the sleepy dispensation, AAP leader, in the letter on Friday, urged the CM to deliver on his pre-election promise to provide power at cheaper and affordable rates to all sections of society, be it domestic, commercial or industrial, et al.

He urged the CM to come out clean on as to what was holding his government to scrap, review or renegotiate the anti-state and anti-people contract terms with the private power companies, which would, surely than not, bring huge relief to power consumers in the state.

AAP would be left with no choice but to mount a state-wide stir to stop the open ‘loot’ of the people of Punjab if no action was taken in the matter, the letter stated.
