Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that appointment letters would be given to the 207 sportspersons who won medals in international competitions during the tenure of the previous as well as the present State Government.

Besides, all the 22 sportspersons of Haryana who won medals in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, would be given cash prizes without any deduction. For this, he would speak to the Chief Minister Manohar lal, said Vij while interacting with mediapersons at Ambala.

Vij said for giving cash prizes to 22 sportspersons without any deduction, he would prepare a file and send to the Chief Minister for approval.

The State Government had recently courted a controversy when it had decided to reduce the prize money for those Commonwealth Games medal winners from the state who were employed with other departments or Boards.

The felicitation function planned for the prize money distribution on April 26 had to be eventually cancelled indefinitely when the athletes threatened to boycott it.

Vij also said that out-of-turn appointment would be made of 207 sportspersons who won medals in international competitions. The file of these 207 sportspersons has already been approved by the Chief Minister.

He expressed the hope that work on issuing the appointment letters would start this month.

The Minister also said an advertisement would also be released in newspapers, and any person up to the age of 50 years, who fulfilled the conditions, would be able to apply against the advertisement.

The Department would prepare a chart and upload it on its website to enable sportspersons to know the job being offered against the medals won by them, he added.
