Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national chief and BJP’s candidate from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur has served legal notice to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and HPCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu along with others for allegedly defaming him.

Thakur also served legal notice on his rival Rajender Rana and MlA Kuldeep Kumar. Thakur sought unconditional public apology from all these leaders for levelling baseless allegations against him and defaming him. He blamed Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for tarnishing his image by saying in a public rally that Anurag Thakur is a Page 3 character.

BJP issued a statement in this regard and said that Anurag Thakur comes from a respected family and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has started a campaign to tarnish his image by issuing defamatory statements in the public.

Thakur has served legal notice to HPCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and his rival Rajender Rana for saying that Anurag Thakur is seen mostly in Mumbai and Dubai instead of his constituency Hamirpur and among people.

BJP spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said that party will not let the Congress leader succeed in their campaign against Thakur to defame him and would solidly back him and would launch counter attack to expose the leaders defaming him.

“Anurag Thakur ranks among the 20 parliamentarians who have more than 95 per cent attendance in the parliament and has raised several issues related to the people of the state and constituency, including extension of railway lines,” added Dutt.

He said that Congress and its leaders are anticipating a clear defeat in the elections and for that reason are resorting to defame the BJP leaders. “BJP will move to court if these Congress leaders do not seek unconditional apology from the people for defaming Anurag Thakur,” added Dutt.
