The actor Anupam Kher joined his wife and Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Kirron Kher in Chandigarh on Thursday for campaigning.
Anupam Kher addressed public gatherings seeking votes for his wife. Another Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor is also expected to visit the city on April 6 to campaign for Kirron Kher.After BJP’s star campaigner Narendra Modi addressed a Bharat Vijay Rally here last month seeking votes for Kirron Kher, leader of Opposition in lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj is also expected to visit the city on Friday to address a rally in favour of Kirron.
With polling day inching closer, the political parties are now struggling to get star campaigners in the city.The Congress is yet to get confirmation about Congress’ president Sonia Gandhi rally schedule in Chandigarh. In absence of central leaders, the Congress candidate and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal is dependent on bigwigs in neighbouring States. Former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal addressed a rally in favour of Bansal on Wednesday while Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja addressed a rally on Thursday. Now, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is likely to visit the city on Friday to address a public meeting here.
The AAP’s star campaigner Arvind Kejriwal held a roadshow in Chandigarh to campaign for party’s candidate Gul Panag. The AAP has also submitted a list of star campaigners with EC.The BSP’s candidate Jannat Jahan also got support from party’s supreme Mayawati who had addressed a rally on March 30 here.
