Antony's remark on killings is ridiculous, says Badal

Terming the statement of Union Defence Minister AK Antony “ridiculous”  regarding killing of five Army jawans in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday said that it reflected “non-seriousness of the Congress-led UPA Government in dealing with the sensitive matters”.

“This unfortunate statement of Union Defence Minister on this emotive issue has shown that the UPA Government was least bothered about the internal and external security of the country, due to which the sovereignty of the nation was in jeopardy,” said Badal while talking to media persons on the sidelines of his Sangat Darshan program in Gidderbaha assembly segment.

He said that the Centre should have acted tough after the incident but by issuing such irrational statements, the UPA Government has made a mockery of the martyrs.

Facing criticism for holding Sangat Darshan programs, Badal clarified that the main aim was to mitigate people’s problems by virtually bringing Government at their doorstep. “There is no political motive in holding this program and the sole objective of it was to ensure the well being of the general public,” he added.

Manpreet has fallen prey to Congress’ dirty tactics: Badal

Taking a dig on former Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, the Chief Minister said that by playing into Congress hands, the People’s Party of Punjab’s founder president has not only betrayed the SAD but the people of state too.

“Congress has always resorted to such dirty tactics of promoting someone from the Badal clan against them for fulfilling its political interests.

But, it has miserably failed in such endeavors. People like Manpreet, who were used for such nefarious purposes, are later shunned by the Congress after using them, due to which they had gone to political oblivion,” he added.
