ANOTHER EFFORT IN VAIN: SAD

SAD on Sunday said “desperate and shocked”, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh has now given a ultimatum of 48 hours to party rebels to rescind and follow the party line or they will be expelled from the party.

“For the last two days, Amarinder has been crying horse exhorting party rebels to opt out of contest but they stood to their guns and did not budge from the stand,” said SAD MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. “Despite persuasions, passionate appeals and threat of expulsion from the party, overwhelming majority of party leaders have stood their ground and did not withdraw their papers till the last date of withdrawal indicating their intention to flout the directions of the party high command,” he said.

Interestingly, instead of daring to take action against rebels, Dhindsa pointed out that Amarinder preferred to again hold out an ultimatum of 48 hours but it is unlikely have any effect on estranged party colleagues.

Dhindsa said Amarinder has been saying for some days that he would teach a lesson to his opponent in lambi but the rebel Congress leaders are determined to teach him a lesson in over two dozen seats in his waterloo, which he said is his last poll.

“Instead of taking threats seriously, Congressmen are making a mockery saying that on their induction after few months after evaluating the performance of rebel candidates, the party would proudly reintroduce them to the party fold describing it a “home coming” (may be second or third time),” said Dhindsa.
