BJP national president Amit Shah along with other BJP top leaders will attend the Haryana Swaran Jayanti Panchayati Raj Sammelan to be held on April 23 at Gohana in Sonipat district.

Haryana BJP core group on Wednesday met in New Delhi to chalk out plans to ensure that the Sammelan is a huge success in the State. The meeting was chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar.

An announcement to give district status to Gohana is likely to be made at the Sammelan. Haryana Cabinet sub-committee has already give recommendation to give status of district to Gohana.

Considering the serious damage done to the image of BJP led Haryana Government following the Jat quota stir in the State, the party has planned to list out its achievements and make several major announcements for the general public at the Swaran Jayanti Panchayati Raj Sammelan.

At present, the BJP Government is in damage control mode to soothe frayed tempers in various communities after the Jat quota agitation that claimed 30 lives, left more than 300 injured and resulted in loss of hundreds of crores of rupees in February.

During the core group meeting, duties were assigned to the Ministers to ensure that the Sammelan is a huge success.

The Sammelan to be held on April 23 will witness several Union and Cabinet ministers and panchayat representatives. A large number of panchayat representatives from across the state have also been invited to attend the Sammelan.

Those who attended the core group meeting included Khattar, Union Minister Krishanpal Gujjar; Haryana Ministers Capt Abhimanyu, Ram Bilas Sharma and OP Dhankar, BJP’s national Organisation Secretary Ram lal, party’s Haryana incharge Dr Anil Jain and state BJP president Subhash Barala.

The core group also deliberated upon ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ campaign which is going on in the state to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions and will culminate on April 24. From April 21 to 24, Gram Sabhas will be organized in Haryana with a maximum participation of villagers, especially the women, members belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other marginalized groups under the campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address all Gram Sabhas across the country on April 24 and his address will be aired live in all villages of the state.
