Amarinder questions logic behind narc board

Congress Deputy leader in the lok Sabha and Amritsar MP, Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday questioned the logic behind Punjab Government’s move to constitute Narcotics Prevention and Control Board when Narcotics Control Bureau was already doing its job.

The former chief minister expressed apprehensions that “this Board, to be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, will only shield and protect those Akalis who are producing, promoting and pedaling the drugs”.   He said: “There are some police personnel who are promoting drug trade and they are being protected by the Akalis and who are in turn being protected by the Badals.”

Capt Amarinder, referring to the State Government’s announcement that they will eradicate drug addiction from the State within two years, asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as what was he doing till now.

“This is the time to take urgent action as the drugs are destroying an entire generation,” he added. Senior Congress leader asked SAD’s ally, BJP to explain the reason behind resignation of their four ministers from the government. “Whether it is disillusionment with the Akalis or the failure of your MinistersIJ” he asked the BJP to explain.
