Hitting back at former CM Amarinder Singh for blaming Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on Operation Bluestar, the SAD on Tuesday termed it as “an attempt to divert people’s attention from the real role of Gandhi family”.
Dubbing Amarinder as an “highly opportunist political leader”, the SAD said that the Congress leaders, “have been directed by the Gandhi family to rescue them in the wake of fresh revelations regarding Indira Gandhi taking British help in Bluestar”. “The drama enacted by these Congress leaders is nothing but an attempt to divert public attention from real role of Gandhi family which had gone to the extent of compromising the nation’s sovereignty….their drama cannot wash away blot from Congress’ ugly face for its misdeeds which will be punished by Punjabis for hatching conspiracies against them,” said SAD spokesperson Daljit Cheema. Cheema also asked Amarinder, if he considered Badal guilty, then what forced him to quit Congress resenting Bluestar and joining SADIJ “He remained in SAD for a long time and became Cabinet Minister in SAD Government in 1985….and only quit the SAD when he was denied ticket for assembly seat of Dakala in Patiala district and rejoined the same Congress party forgetting its sins of 1984,” he added.
