Congress Deputy leader in the lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as what was “politicising” in flagging the farmers’ woes when he (Badal) had failed them as the Chief Minister of the State.
Capt Amarinder, reacting to Badal’s charges that he was politicising the issue of losses suffered by the farmers, retorted, “What politicisation is in it that I am pointing towards your miserable failures… The damage to the standing crops is no doubt due to the nature’s fury but the damage caused to the wheat lying in mandis is totally because of Badal’s criminal negligence.”
The former CM pointed out that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had sanctioned a cash credit limit of `14,640 crore for the Rabi marketing season of 2015 for the procurement of wheat well on time on April 1. “Badal as the CM of the State, that too the one who claims himself to be a farmer, should have known that by April 10 the mandis are full to the capacity,” he said.
