The differences between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal and Health Minister Anil Vij has come to the fore once again. Hours after Haryana Government announced that Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra will be its brand ambassador for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ programme, Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij tweeted his ignorance on the announcement.
“I do not have any information that anybody has been appointed brand ambassador of my department for Beti Bachao programme,” Anil Vij said in a twitter post. At the time when Vij was expressing his ignorance and displeasure through the tweet, Chief Minister Manohar lal welcomed Parineeti Chopra as the State’s ambassador for BBBP programme.
“We welcome @ParineetiChopra as the brand ambassador for the “Beti Bachao - Beti Padhao” programme, to promote the cause of the girl child,” tweeted the Chief Minister.
In another tweet, he posted, “An all-day, ‘call to action’ event will be held in Gurgaon on July 21 to give the “Beti Bachao — Beti Padhao” campaign a boost.”
The Manohar lal Government had announced Parineeti as the brand ambassador for the campaign on Thursday evening. Incidentally, Parineeti was born and brought up in Haryana’s Ambala city, the hometown of Vij. Parineeti had won several awards, including the Filmfare and National Film Award.
Parineeti would undertake different activities on various themes in the State to promote survival and education of girl child. The activities would relate to Women and Child Development, Health, School Education, Higher Education, Industrial Training Institutes, Technical Education, Development and Panchayat Department, said a Government spokesperson on Friday.
A mega event has also been planned in Gurgaon on July 21 to push the campaign to new heights that is likely to be attended by the actress. Manohar lal would inaugurate the programme in the presence of Ambassador of USA to India, Richard Verma.
The spokesperson said that Health Minister Anil Vij would also be present at the function along with other Cabinet Ministers namely Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Krishan Kumar and UNICEF, Country Head Representative for India, Georges Arsenaul.
The latest tweet by the outspoken Health Minister has created quite a buzz in Haryana’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party circles. The Health Minister who continues to remain in the limelight due to his tweets and working style, had in February posted a tweet hinting at his displeasure over Chief Minister showing “interest” in his departments. “Thank You Chief Minister For Taking Keen Interest into My Departments. I am Relaxed,” he tweeted.
The five-time MlA had in a tweet also insinuated that efforts were on to make him change his style of functioning. On completion of the 100 days of the BJP Government in Haryana, he had tweeted, “Some people want to stop me from working in my own way, but they will never succeed. I will continue to work in my own style.”
After BJP’s humiliating defeat in Delhi Assembly polls, the senior party leader had posted on Twitter, “If the party had concentrated on building leaders rather than importing them, then this would not have been the position of the party in Delhi.”
