People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Singh Badal on Friday indicated that alliance with the Congress for the 2014 lok Sabha elections is a “possibility”, but it is too early to comment on the same.
On the other hand, he called upon the Opposition parties to contest the forthcoming municipal council elections jointly to defeat the SAD-BJP alliance.
He maintained that local level adjustments made by the Opposition parties in the recent Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in the State had yielded good results. “If a formal alliance or similar seat adjustment are made in the municipal council elections, it would yield good results,” he said.
Manpreet said that PPP would contest the municipal council elections and a mass contact programme had been launched. He said that he was satisfied with the performance of the party in the elections to Panchayati Raj institutions.
