All employees and officials of the Haryana Health Department, National Health Mission (NHM), AIDS Control Society and Foods and Drugs Authority, employed in various districts, would now function under the control of the Civil Surgeon.
“This decision has been taken to ensure better coordination between different components of the Health Department for ensuring the people better healthcare service,” said Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday.
Vij said that during the surprise inspections conducted in various hospitals, it was found that there was no coordination between the staff of the Health department, NHM, AIDS Control Society and Food and Drugs Authority.
It was found that while there was crowd in one section, the staff at NHM sat idle. Due to the mismanagement and lack of coordination between different components of the Health Department, the patients faced difficulties, he added. Besides controlling all officials and employees, the Civil Surgeon would also release their salaries. He would also be their immediate supervisory authority and responsible for proper utilization of the staff in all components to ensure better health services in their district, Vij added
The Health Minister added that a new policy is being formulated for listing private hospitals for providing healthcare facilities to government employees in the list.
Until the new policy is formulated, the empanelled hospitals would continue to do the work. This decision has been taken keeping in view the difficulties faced by the employees, said he.
After the employees get their old bills reimbursed, new hospitals would be empanelled. Many complaints received about the functioning of the empanelled hospitals made the
government think of empanelling new hospitals. The new policy would spell relief to the employees, Vij added. He further said that women Multipurpose Health Supervisors (MPHS) and Multipurpose Health Workers (MPHW) employed with ESI and the employees posted in Health Department at similar posts would be given equal allowances. And, this decision would benefit 89 employees of the ESI to the tune of about Rs 9.65 lakh per annum.
