Following the rollout of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1 across the country, Haryana Government on Wednesday issued directions to all gram panchayats to levy tax on entertainments and amusement activities including cinema hall, show, video game parlour, mela, fair, exhibition or any kind of amusement park at the rate as specified by the Government from time to time within the limits of gram panchayats concerned.
A Government spokesperson said these taxes would be leviable by each gram panchayat within a period of 15 days from the date of publication of this order in the official gazette.
Under GST, the entertainment tax imposed by states has been subsumed, and hence only the taxes levied by a panchayat or municipality on entertainments and amusements will continue.
