Amid recent incidents of alleged sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, the Amritsar district unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday said that they would work shoulder-to-shoulder with the SAD-BJP combine Government to eliminate “anti-State elements”.
Pledging to foil all bids to divide Punjab and Punjabis, at least 207 office bearers of the SAD’s Amritsar urban unit, including councillors, come together to condemn the recent incidents of alleged sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
They said that they would take the message of peace, amity and tranquillity to grass root level to safeguard deep knitted communal concord in the State.
The gathering said that no one would desert the party and its cadre during this hour of crisis. It was also announced that timing of the incidents indicated that they were planned with the sole motive of disturbing the peace of the State.
SAD general secretary and Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia called upon Punjabis and party cadres to stay united against these inhuman acts so that peace and communal concord could be maintained.
He also urged the cadre to be cautious about misleading information circulated through social media and rumour mongers. He also pointed out to the cadre that this was the right time to prove loyalty to the party and the State.
