Akal Takht Jathedar excommunicates Ex-Minister Suncha Singh langah

Bringing more trouble for former Akali Minister Suncha Singh langah, the Sikhs’ highest temporal seat — Akal Takht — on Thursday excommunicated him from the Sikh panth.

Already SAD had also expelled langah, after he himself resigned from all party posts. langah had also resigned as the member of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Akal Takht jathedar gianai Gurbachan Singh announced decision to excommunicate langah “for bringing disgrace to the entire Sikh community by forcing a woman for sexual favour and lowering the prestige of religious body of which he was the member”.

langah was the member of SGPC’s Dharam Parchar Committee. The decision was taken in a meeting of five Sikh high priests held at Akal Takht.

The move came a day after langah surrendered in Gurdaspur court approximately five days after he was charged with rape. langah was booked by Gurdaspur police on September 28 under sections 376 (rape), 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the complaint of lady police employee who alleged that the Akali leader had raped her repeatedly since 2009. The lady constable has also submitted a 20-minute video to cops.

Only a day before, parallel jathedars designated by the radical Sarbat Khalsa had also excommunicated langah for committing blasphemy.

Following his sex video went viral on the social media, his parent party SAD expelled him. He was also asked to submit resignation from the SGPC, which was accepted immediately by the SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar.
