Putting at rest all speculation, Haryana Power Minister, Capt Ajay Yadav on Tuesday refused to contest lok Sabha polls from Gurgaon parliamentary constituency due to health reasons.
He also described his son Chiranjeev Rao as ‘most suitable candidate’ in the given situation. Addressing the party workers meeting at his residence in Rewari, Yadav said, “I will not be able to contest the poll as my health does not allow for the same. The decision has also been conveyed to the party high command.”
The minister also made it clear that he would support the party candidate whether or not his son Chiranjeev was given the party ticket. “My son Chiranjeev, who has served as chief of Haryana Pradesh Youth Congress (HPYC), is the right choice for Gurgaon seat which has a large number of youth voters,” said Capt Yadav.
Capt Yadav was making serious efforts to get the party ticket for his son from Gurgaon but the Congress high command agreed to make him the party candidate instead of Chiranjeev to give a stiff fight to BJP candidate and sitting MP Rao Inderjit who recently joined the BJP after resigning from Congress.
