Ajanala, Bony given clean chit in drug haul case

Even as the voices demanding “action” against SAD MP and his MlA son facing allegations of involvement with drug lords arrested recently rising within the party, party president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday rebutted any such allegations. Sukhbir denied involvement of his party’s leaders in the multi-crore drug racket, busted by the Punjab police with the arrest of its master mind Jagdish Singh alias Bhola — the former DSP and Arjuna awardee wrestler.

The main opposition Congress party is also targeting Akali Dal seeking action against those involved and having links with the accused arrested during investigations including and Bhola’s associates - major supplier Jagjit Singh Chahal and Maninder Singh Aulakh.

In fact, many Akali leaders have also endorsed the demand to act against Ajnala father-son duo in case they are actually involved. Responding to the query on possible involvement of SAD MP from Khadoor Sahib Ratan Singh Ajnala and his MlA son from Ajnala Amarpal Singh Bony in the drug racket, Sukhbir categorically said, “They have no links with the drug racket…they are currently campaigning in Delhi.”  It has been learnt that one of the associate, Aulakh, had been closely associated with the father-son duo and had been their election agent.
