With the number of jobless graduates increasing every year, the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana has swung into action to improve employment quotient through skill upgradation and soft skill training of final year students in the colleges of the State.

For this, Haryana Government will rope in private players to set up a chain of Centre of Excellence-Skill Nurturing and Placement Centres in all 22 districts of the state. These centres will be opened in selected degree and engineering colleges of Haryana this year.

Following the directions of Chief Minister Manohar lal to increase the employability and self employment potential of students in the colleges, the Higher Education Department has chalked out a proposal to open Centre of Excellence-Skill Nurturing and Placement Centers in public-private partnership mode.

As per the statistics of the Government, every year 70000-80000 students are graduating from the colleges of higher education and are faced with challenges in getting placement or self-employment opportunities.

The proposed Skill Nurturing and Placement Centers will provide training of basic English communication, soft skills, personality development and basic IT besides assisting all the final year students of colleges to get free guidance on their future higher studies or professional career options.

Under the employment and self-employment linked training to be run on pilot basis in these centres, courses on  the high demand sectors like BFSI (including GST clerk), IT, Retail, Telecom, Tourism & Hospitality, logistics, Agriculture, Healthcare, Management & Consulting, Mass Communication among others have been proposed.

Among other roles of such centres would include counseling seminars, conducting psychometric assessment test, ensuring on-the-job training, spreading awareness about international studies or work visa, connecting with various Government (MSME) and non-Government (NEN, EDI, ASSOCHAM) organisations.

The State Government has also proposed setting up a dedicated career nurturing cell for all the final year students to get free advice on their future career path including higher education option, employment, entrepreneurships or other professional training and certification.

Apart from this, a dedicated job portal will be launched for the students enrolled for skill upgradation training in the state.

Eyeing 2019 assembly and parliamentary polls, the BJP led Haryana Government has planned a series of initiatives related to providing skill upgradation training to final year students, giving employment opportunities to jobless graduates and post graduates. Also, the Government has set a target to provide employment to two lakh unemployed youth of the State by the end of this year.

The BJP Government is also in the process of verifying academic and other records of more than five lakh unemployed youth in the state by January and certifying the record of non-verified unemployed youth by March 31 this year. Following the identification of actual number of unemployed youth in the State, the Government has proposed to provide them skill development training.

Notably, a Saksham Yuva Scheme for educated unemployed youth was launched in Haryana in the year 2016. At present, 55306 graduate and post-graduate youth have got themselves registered under the scheme. Out of these, employment has been provided to 32,284 in various departments of the State Government and unemployment allowance was being given to about 25,000 youth.
