Haryana Women and Child Development Minister, Kavita Jain on Thursday said that financial help is being provided in Haryana to various agencies and non-governmental organisations under 'Ujjawala', a Centre’s

sponsored scheme for the prevention of trafficking, rescue and rehabilitation of women and child who are victims of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.

The Minister said that the main aim of this scheme is to prevent trafficking of women and children for commercial sexual exploitation through social mobilisation and involvement of local communities and awareness generation programmes like workshops and seminars and to facilitate repatriation of cross-border victims to their country of origin

Under the scheme, grant-in-aid is provided to various prestigious public and private trusts and voluntary organisations to carry out various rescue and rehabilitation works. In grade-A cities, grant amounting to `1,66,500 is being given for prevention, `23,500 for rescue, `17,36,500 for rehabilitation, `1,14,500 for re-integration and `35,000 for cross-border repatriation. Similarly in Grade-B cities, grant amounting to `1,66,500 is being given for prevention, `23,500 for rescue, `16,76,500 for rehabilitation, `1,14,500 for re-integration, `35,000 for cross-border repatriation.

She said that interested agencies and non-governmental organisation seeking grant-in-aid could submit their essential documents along with prescribed form to the concerned District Program Officer who would forward the same to Director, Women and Child Development Department along with recommendations of Deputy Commissioner concerned. The State Government would then forward the proposal along with its recommendations to the Central Government for releasing the grant-in-aid.

Jain said that such trusts and voluntary organisations should have sufficient experience of rehabilitation of victims and providing social protection and care to women and children.

She added that such implementing agencies seeking grant should be registered and should not be working for benefit of any individual. After getting registered, the organisation should normally have three years experience and its financial position should

be satisfactory. The organisation seeking grant should have adequate facilities, resources, experience and other facilities, said Jain.
