Upping the ante against the BJP led Central Government on the issue of three agriculture related laws, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will reach Haryana on October 7 to begin his ‘Kheti Bacho Yatra’ in the state.
After concluding his ongoing protest in the neighboring state of Punjab against the new farms laws, the Congress leader will reach Haryana on October 7 morning, said Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja.
Gandhi on Sunday launched his ‘Kheti Bacho Yatra’ from Punjab where he promised farmers that his party will remove the contentious farm sector laws once it comes to power in the Centre.
After holding a meeting with party workers for making preparations for Rahul’s visit, Kumari Selja said that the former Congress president will reach from Punjab-Haryana border at Devigarh village (Kaithal) and meet farmers to listen to their grievances related to the new agriculture laws. He will visit various mandies to hold discussion with the farmers of the state.
A large number of farmers with their tractors will welcome the Congress leader in Haryana. Rahul is scheduled to visit Pehowa to meet farmers. He will stay at Kurukshetra overnight and will begin his yatra on October 8 from Pipli, Selja said.
As per the schedule, he will meet farmers in Pipli, where the farmers faced lathicharge last month during their protest against the agriculture related laws.
Rahul will meet those agitating farmers who were injured during the lathicharge. Following this, he is scheduled to visit Nilokheri (Karnal) anaj mandi to meet farmers.
Selja said that the Congress party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi has been agitating against these laws as the Central Government has been handing over the farmers’ welfare in the hands of private companies.
The new laws will allow some of the government’s favorite capitalists to have a free hand to loot and farmers will depend on these capitalists to sell their crops, she alleged.
