As Prime Minister Narendra Modi went for a mega cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria tendered his resignation from the Cabinet while no other MP from Haryana found a place in the Modi Cabinet.
With this, the number of MPs from Haryana in the Council of Ministers has come down from three to two. Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh and Faridabad MP Krishan Pal Gurjar have retained their cabinet berths in the mega rejig exercise.
Kataria was serving as the Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment in the Modi Government.
The BJP had swept all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in the 2019 general elections.
Though Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar were both Ministers of State in the first term of Modi government in 2014, the induction of Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria, a Scheduled Caste, was a surprise element when all three party leaders were sworn-in during 2019 Modi Government 2.0.
