A 49-member delegation from Afghanistan on Friday appreciated Punjab Government’s initiatives to provide all citizen-centric services to the common masses on a single click at their doorsteps. As part of an endeavour to strengthen public administration education in Afghanistan, the delegation, comprising 49 civil services officers and professors of public administration from the universities of Balkh, Heart, Kabul, Kandahar and Nangahar, visited Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration in Chandigarh.
The scholars understood how Punjab had become the first State in the country to successfully launch e-SARKAR to witness paperless governance. Governance Reforms secretary Rakesh Verma, making a detailed presentation, explained the Government’s structure in India and gave an overview of Punjab Governance Reforms Commission and implementation of its various recommendations for the citizens’ benefits. Verma elaborated on various services being provided to citizens under Punjab Right to Service Act, 2011 in a given time-bound manner. “A citizen’s portal would be created soon where all citizens can avail services provided by the Government without moving from one website to another,” he said.
