Advocate Jatin Salwan gets interim bail

Published on:

Even as the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Advocate Jatin Salwan on medical grounds, the High Court Bar Association again abstained from work and will take a call on further protest on Wednesday.

Chandigarh Police had arrested Jatin Salwan on July 1, when a retired Chandigarh police official Tarsem Rana had admitted to Jatin’s connivance in a NDPS case. During the course of hearing of the petition, the Bench of Justice MMS Bedi was told that the case was registered against the petitioner on the basis of Inspector Ram Rattan’s information. The Court was told that Chandigarh police had secret information that opium was being carried in a Maruti car. On the basis of this information, the car was intercepted and one Bhagwan Singh was arrested with 2.6 kg opium and fake currency notes. The recoveries were affected in the presence of Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh Brar.
