Administrative reshuffle in Haryana after MlAs target Govt

Published on:

The Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana on Friday carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the middle ranking officials in the backdrop of mounting criticism from its own MlAs as well as opposition that the Government has failed to deliver. The BJP led State Government transferred 43 Haryana Civil Services and 23 Haryana Police Services (HPS) on Friday.

The much-expected administrative reshuffle comes after more than a dozen “disgruntled” BJP MlAs had lodged a complaint with party high command against the State bureaucrats and working style of Chief Minister Manohar lal, who they had alleged failed to deliver on the “good governance” promise.

While the BJP Government went for a major reshuffle of HCS and HPS on Friday, the transfers of IAS and IPS officers is also likely to be carried out soon to pacify the rebelling BJP MlAs who are miffed over the “unsupportive attitude” of the bureaucrats in Haryana. Notably, during a series of meetings with party central leadership during last month, the rebelling Haryana MlAs tore into their own government registering a complaint against the bureaucracy, slow pace of development works, pending announcements of Chief Minister among other issues.

More than a dozen party MlAs had alleged that they are being ignored when it comes to transfers in civil and police administration in their constituencies and bureaucrats do not listen to them and attend their phone calls.  The miffed MlAs had also raised questions on the leadership of Manohar lal in the state.

last week, meeting of senior state party leaders with national BJP president Amit Shah and Haryana BJP incharge Anil Jain, also gave rise to speculation that the state would soon have a Deputy Chief Minister.

However, the move seems to have been postponed for now with the party directing the state leadership to make efforts to douse the flames of dissidence and infighting in the party unit.

Amid reports of rebellion by several BJP MlAs against Chief Minister, the RSS leadership had also intervened and asked the Chief Minister to resolve the issues with the miffed MlAs.

It was just before the onset of the budget session of Haryana Assembly in February that several BJP MlAs had raised the issue of being ignored by their own government and bureaucracy being running the show in Haryana. The Chief Minister had also convened a meeting with the disgruntled MlAs while the budget session of the Assembly was in progress but failed to pacify the situation.

During the Assembly Session, Gurugram MlA Umesh Aggarwal had launched a tirade against Khattar on issues including irregularities in the land allotment, Gurugram Master Plan and Gurugram's Gwal Pahari land row.

Recently, when asked about the disgruntled BJP MlAs, Chief Minister Manohar lal had denied existence of any discontent or groupism, among the party MlAs saying "none of our party MlAs is dissatisfied or unhappy. All of them stand united."
