A spokesman of Power Utilities on Friday said that Power Department has made arrangements to supply electricity for 24 hours a day to the industries and urban domestic consumers, 14 hours to rural domestic consumers and eight hours to the agricultural consumers.

As the advance arrangements have already been made, Power Department would not require to purchase electricity on short term basis, he said.

Giving details about electricity requirement, the spokesman  said that in the months of June, July, August and September, the projected requirement of electricity for average of maximum peak demand would be about 8130 MW, 8612 MW, 8804 MW, 8929 MW respectively. The Power Department has already made arrangements for 8961 MW, 10082 MW, 9842 MW, 9693 MW power for these months respectively, he said.

The spokesman said that the Discoms had supplied power to Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Manipur and Chhattisgarh under banking arrangements during winter. These states would return power to Haryana during summer or paddy season as per the agreement.
