Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said the State Government would soon form the ad hoc committee which would be entrusted with the task of managing the gurdwaras in Haryana.
He was speaking to a delegation of the advocates of Punjab and Haryana High Court who met him to express their gratitude for enacting legislation for the creation of a separate SGPC for management of the Sikh shrines in Haryana.
The delegation was led by former president, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, K S Dhaliwal and former Advocate General, Harbhagwan Singh. The delegation met the Chief Minister and recommended to immediately announce the formation of the ad hoc committee and hand over the management of the Sikh shrines in the State to the newly-constituted committee.
Dhaliwal said that the Akali Dal is interfering in the religious affairs of the Sikhs in Haryana by deploying armed employees and terrorizing the Sikh Sangat visiting the gurdawaras.
Harbhagwan Singh said Haryana’s decision to form HSGPC is a legal act under the Constitution. He said Sikh management bodies are in existence in Bihar and Maharashtra - Takht Shri Patna Sahib and Takht Shri Huzoor Sahib. Similarly, Delhi too has its own Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee which controls the affairs of the shrines there.
