Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are washing their dirty linen in public. After its Delhi’s lawmaker Devindra Sehrawat accused a few partymen of “exploiting women” in return for party tickets in Punjab, AAP’s Punjab Women Wing on Wednesday filed a complaint against him “for strict and immediate action” with the National Women Commission.
That is not all! Complaints have also been filed by party’s National Executive member and women wing’s Bathinda zone in-charge to the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission demanding “strict action as per law” against Sehrawat for “tarnishing” women’s image.
AAP’s Punjab women wing head Baljinder Kaur, also the party’s candidate from Talwandi Sabo, pointed that Sehrawat’s father Ram Parkash Sehrawat had lodged a complaint with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal leveling several “serious allegations” against his own son.
She added that his father has stated that “his son was mentally ill and was capable of doing anything dangerous”. She further pointed that Sehrawat’s father has alleged that the MlA “has no respect for women and is very abusive to them”.
“His wife Poonam on several occasions had complained to his commanding officer as he used to abuse her and beat her while in army. Physical assaults continued on her (Poonam) after he left the army while staying in Vasant Kunj,” read the complaint.
“Shocked, furious and immensely hurt” by Sehrawat’s allegations, Baljinder said that no specific allegations have been leveled against anyone in particular, and in fact, it was done to malign party’s image in Punjab and rest of India.
“leveling of such general and wild allegations against women of Punjab has resulted in a lot of resentment among not just the women but whole of Punjab,” she said adding that these allegations against Sanjay Singh, Durgesh Pathak and Dilip Pandey are “totally false and were made to harm the image of the party and moreover they show the women of Punjab in a very bad light”.
Demanding “strict action” against Sehrawat, she urged the national women panel to arrest the MlA and immediately sent to a hospital for his mental treatment.
On the similar lines, the party’s National Executive member Yamini Gomar and women wing’s Bathinda zone in-charge to the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Rupinder Kaur (Ruby), in their separate complaints, accused Sherawat, of harming the party’s image besides “showing the women of Punjab in a very bad light”.
They, in their respective complaints, demanded “strict action” against Sehrawat for making statements “without any direct evidence” which have tarnished the image of women of Punjab and which has caused immense hurt, damage and pain to the sentiments of people of Punjab.
