AAP's manifesto fiasco was a deliberate political move: Capt

Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday said, putting the broom along with the picture of Darbar Sahab was not an inadvertent error by the AAP but a deliberate political move aimed at targeting a particular section of the society. “But the idea boomeranged and now they are running for the cover”, he remarked.

He said, the main idea behind juxtaposing the broom along with the picture of the Darbar Sahab was aimed at conveying an “agnostic message”, which the authors of the manifesto thought would convey a signal of “social change” and “equality” that they did not make any difference between the broom and the holiest place of the Sikhs.

Capt Amarinder said, as part of the typical Naxalite and atheistic reflections of the AAP ideology, which does not believe in religion, the brains behind this idea in the party wanted to convey the “agnostic and anarchic message of social change” in their own way, to target a particular section of the society, without caring about the sentiments of millions and millions of people across the globe who hold Darbar Sahab in sacred and divine respect.

Referring to Kejriwal’s proposed visit to Darbar Sahab on July 11, he pointed out, first his (Kejriwal’s) Aam Aadmi Party hurt the religious feelings of the Punjabis and now he was resorting to his characteristic theatrics by offering to visit Darbar Sahab to make up for his wrongs. “This is what usually happens when a party is not only ignorant of the ground realities but also insensitive towards the feelings of the masses”, he remarked.
