Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday set three-day deadline for the State police to book and arrest the main accused in Abohar killings, failing which the party will start an agitation across the State.
Issuing the warning, party’s State convener Suchha Singh Chottepur asked that the police to book Shiv lal Doda and his nephew Amit Doda, the main accused in a case where limbs of a youth were cut at their farm house, in three days, unless “AAP will take start agitation all over the State”.
Chottepur, after meeting Gurjant Singh — a survivor of “brutal” Abohar murder case — at a private hospital in Amritsar, announced that the party would organise a candle march against the atrocities of police on Friday all over the State.
He also announced free medical treatment of the injured from the party side, besides assuring the family that AAP would fight till the last breath to get the justice done.
Chottepur, addressing the media after the meeting, said: “Even five days after the Abohar Dalit murder case, the police have still not arrested the prime accused in case, Shiv lal Doda and his nephew Amit Doda at whose farmhouse the murder took place.”
“The police is working under the pressure of Akali leaders and hesitating to book Doda because of his association with Akali Dal. We will not let the culprits roam free,” he said.
Chottepur alleged that the Badals have pushed Punjab towards failure in every sphere. “It is the result of the terrible policies of the government that people are seeing no future in the state,” he said.
