AAP warns Cong Govt of snatching livelihood

Published on:

Extending support to the ongoing State-wide agitation of anganwadi workers, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday warned the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Government of snatching the livelihood of as many as 54,000 families dependent on the anganwadi system.

Criticising the State Government’s proposed move to do away with the anganwadi system in Punjab, Khaira assured the protesting workers at Bholath that his party would take up their cause in the ensuing winter session of the Vidhan Sabha.

Khaira said that Capt Amarinder, instead of providing job to every family of Punjab, was now hell bent on snatching the livelihood of approximately 54,000 anganwadi workers, by merging their children in the pre-nursery Government schools.

He lambasted the Congress Government for gagging the voice of anganwadi workers by registering cases against 15 leaders of their union, while protesting at Patiala couple of days back. He urged the State Government not to be so vindictive with those demanding their bread and butter.

They were demanding that the proposal to do away with the anganwadi system in Punjab should be shelved immediately
