Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced to gherao the residence of Congress MLA Raj Kumar Verka, who along with the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh allegedly lied on the issue of regularizing sanitation workers across Punjab who have been fighting for their rights for a long time.
“Like all other sections, Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress Government has been trying to mislead the safai karamcharis, who serves for the welfare of the people, by lying to them,” said AAP senior leader and the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema.
Cheema said that a few days back, Verka had met Capt Amarinder and announced to regularize the sanitation workers, which proved to be a bundle of lies. “Capt Amarinder Government has not yet come up with any policy to regularize these employees nor has it been considered in the Punjab Cabinet. In such a scenario, Verka is only trying to drive the sanitation workers across the state insane by playing vote politics,” he added.
“Verka should apologize to the sanitation workers for lying and making fun of them,” said Cheema, adding that in the coming days, AAP would expose all false promises made by the Congress Government to the people of Punjab.
