Aam Aadmi Party will announce the names of all the candidates for 10 parliamentary constituencies by the end of this month. So far, the party has announced the name of Yogendra Yadav only as its candidate for Gurgaon constituency. Dr Ashawant Gupta, convener of AAP Haryana said the party had received over 600 applications for ten constituencies and in preliminary round, over 450 have been scrutinised.

“In the second round, three candidates would be selected for one parliamentary constituency and one candidate will be selected out of these three by Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) at national level under the chairmanship of Arvind Kejriwal and it would be announced by the end of this month”, he added.

Gupta said the criteria is that the candidates should not be illiterate, should be honest, should have social involvement, should not having any criminal background, should not be casteist and must be aware of the issues of Haryana.

He said AAP is also taking affidavits regarding all these conditions from the candidates, and after the final decision, the complete forms along with affidavits of successful candidates would be put on website.

Gupta said women are not showing much interest in the candidature. “We had received only 7 to 8 per cent applications for ten constituencies across the state from the women candidates, however,  we want to give at least two tickets to the women candidates”, said Gupta.

Other political parties including Congress, Indian National lok Dal, BJP-HJC and BSP are yet to announce the list of their candidates.
