AAP takes on Capt, Modi over pending post-matric scholarship for dalit students, threatens State-wide agitation

Published on:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday threatened the Centre and the Punjab Government of holding a state-level protest in case they failed to release the post-matric scholarship within a time-frame of amount pending for a long time.

AAP’s Punjab unit accused the Union and the State governments for debarring a major chunk of the students belonging to ‘dalit’ and other backward classes from the process of admissions in various professional courses for the academic session of 2019-2020 owing to non-payment the pending scholarship amount.

“These students have to seek admissions to IITs, engineering, commerce, arts and medical colleges and universities after 10-plus-two under the post matric scholarship scheme, “ said Punjab AAP MLAs including core committee chairman Budh Ram, Dalit wing chief Manjit Singh Bilaspur and vice-president Julwant Singh Pandori and Rupinder Kaur Ruby.

They said that anti-Dalit stance of the saffron government at the Centre led by Modi and Congress Government led by Capt Amarinder Singh has spoiled the future of promising students belonging to these categories.
