AAP’s national general secretary Sanjay Singh and senior leader Kanwar Sandhu on Thursday strongly condemned Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal’s remarks branding entire Punjabi community ‘terrorists’ and blaming AAP for getting funds from radicals.
“Sukhbir Badal has lost his mental balance and his utterances against NRIs supporting AAP are unwarranted and great insult of Punjabi NRIs. NRIs in Canada had extended moral and financial support to AAP in hope to see a prosper Punjab. Sukhbir has blamed that AAP was getting funds from terrorists,” said Singh. Sandhu said Sukhbir’s remarks were “below dignity and signs of frustration in the SAD”.
He said that NRIs wanted to see People of Punjab as prosperous as they are in foreign countries. NRIs had achieved their goals in foreign countries due to best governance practices and their hard work. How can they even think of becoming terrorists, said Sandhu.
Jaskirat Mann from Canada, the driving force behind mobilisation of NRIs, said that NRIs were deeply hurt with Sukhbir’s comments. “SAD leaders who went to USA and Canada last year were hounded by Punjabi community for ruining Punjab with drugs and mafia culture,” she said.
