AAP says its charge against Capt and his family vindicated

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said that summoning of Raninder Singh, the son of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has vindicated the party's charge against the former chief minister and his family for being neck deep in corruption.

Party’s Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said that Capt Amarinder has no moral authority to continue in politics after ED has summoned his son Raninder Singh for FEMA violations, in which he (Amarinder) was also named.

“As per the reports, the ED has issued summons to Raninder Singh for suspected FEMA violations in the UK-based Jacaranda Trust case. Even Amarinder is likely to be questioned by ED at a later stage, says Media reports,” said Mann, who is also the party’s Campaign Committee chairman.

Mann said that in March, AAP had made startling revelations about Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder’ family's Swiss bank accounts in which lakhs of dollars were transferred when the latter was Punjab CM from 2002 to 2007.

“The documents procured by AAP clearly indicated that his son Raninder Singh and wife Preneet Kaur opened bank accounts in Switzerland to transfer large sums of money especially when Capt Amarinder was the chief minister,” he said.

Mann added that ludhiana court had summoned Capt Amarinder's son after Income Tax authorities submitted a challan against him. “The challan said that Raninder was the settler of the UK-based The Jacaranda Trust India (JT) and beneficiary of at least four companies with assets nearly Rs 460 crore,” he said.

He added, “IT sleuths have also told the court that Capt Amarinder is the discretionary beneficiary of the JT. The IT had filed a case against Raninder for producing false accounts and documents and lying under the oath in connection with the JT and money in four companies.”

Giving details of their bank accounts and companies, Mann alleged that all these accounts were opened in HSBC bank and companies floated when Capt Amarinder was chief minister in Punjab, “which means Amarinder was looting Punjab and transferring money to Switzerland through various bank accounts his family members had opened”.

“Otherwise through which ways and means Amarinder was earning his income from which was being transferred to the overseas banks,” he questioned.
