Faridkot police on Monday booked Gursewak Singh, the personal assistant of Aam Aadmi Party’s MP from Faridkot, Prof Sadhu Singh, for the embezzlement of Rs 33.13 lakh.
The case was registered under Section 406 and 420 (cheating and breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Gursewak on the complaint of Faridkot MP who alleged that his PA Gursewak Singh cheated him of Rs 33,13,267 by misusing his ATM card between the period of August 2014 and March 2017.
Prof Sadhu alleged that Gursewak was his personal assistant for about three years, and during this period, he had handed over his Parliament Bank Account’s ATM card to Gursewak for withdrawing money with his permission.
“Now, as I checked the balance in my account, I was shocked to find that my PA had withdrawn the money without my permission,” alleged Sadhu, whose salary is credited to this bank account.
Prof Sadhu, in his complaint, claimed that he never used the ATM card to withdraw money, and used only the cheque book to withdraw money.
He alleged that using his position, Gursewak undertook many foreign tours in these three years.
