Rubbishing the accusations by the Congress and SAD-BJP that the members of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had links with the gangsters and terrorists, the party’s Punjab unit on Friday made counter-charge on the Congress for “patronising” dreaded gangsters including key accused of Nabha jail-break.
AAP’s Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi said that it had become a habit of Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh to name AAP for any mishappening in the State even though AAP has time and again made it clear that no party leaders are involved in any kind of anti-social activity.
Ghuggi, accompanied by party’s State secretary Gulshan Chhabra and Media Cell co-coordinator Manjit Singh Sidhu, said that key accused in Nabha jail break case Gurpreet Sekhon belongs to the Congress family and Vicky Gounder, an accomplice of Sekhon, was brought to the world of crime by a Congress leader.
He said that the family members of these gangsters were on record to accuse Congress for misguiding their wards.
At the same time, he refuted charges that any AAP leader had given shelter to these gangsters, and affirmed that no office bearers of AAP were involved in harbouring any gangster.
Also lambasting Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla for “meaningless allegations”, Ghuggi said that gangsters and terrorists in Punjab were products of Congress and SAD. “AAP will clear the mesh,” he said adding that this shows the frustration of SAD-BJP alliance and Congress leaders.
Ghuggi also expressed his concern over crash in potato prices and demanded that NAFED shall procure the potatoes through MARKFED to protect the interests of potato growers.
He also demanded from the Central Government to provide subsidy on freight to potato growers so that farmers could transport their yield to other states and in foreign countries.
