Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday released its 21-point poll manifesto for the revival of trade and industry of Punjab.
Unveiling the poll manifesto, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, said: “It is not our poll manifesto, but an agreement of AAP with the people of Punjab and the party is committed to fulfill all promises made to the people in poll document.”
Explaining how it plans to get Punjab back to its glory days of industrial prosperity, AAP promised to do away with the liquor mafia, raid-raj, while introducing slew of incentives for reviving trade and industry sector in Punjab by offering tax holidays.
It also vowed to depoliticise the State’s transport sector, besides providing transparent tax regime, “lower” tax rates and elimination of “sand mafia” in the State.
Kejriwal claimed that the manifesto is prepared through several extensive sessions of dialogue with the business community, who suggested their points, which were incorporated in the document.
“Other political parties do not talk about the industry specific manifesto, as they were visionless on the revival of industry, which is backbone of overall development of Punjab,” he said.
Kejriwal said that when several industrial units of Punjab are shifting from the State, “it is a challenge for us to bring youth out of drugs and give them employment for their rehabilitation…Healthy industry of Punjab would help AAP Government to provide jobs to the rehabilitated youth, so that they may not get trapped again in drugs”.
launching a scathing attack on the NDA rule at the Centre, Kejriwal said that the people were being harassed in the garb of income tax raids, which is highly deplorable.
“If (PM Narendra) Modi is serious to tackle the menace of black money, he should have raided the business houses of Adanis and Ambanis, from whom the department would have completed their target of collection,” he suggested.
