AAP decries Pb Min remark on gang wars

Aam Aadmi Party on Monday rubbished Punjab Rural Welfare and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa’s statement, wherein he stated that it was good that gang wars are happening in Punjab and criminals are killing each other, as “highly condemnable”.

“It shows that the Government has failed to provide peaceful environment to the people of State,” said senior AAP leader and the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha HS Phoolka.

Phoolka said that the Minister must take his statement back and apologise publically for his ridiculous statement.

At the same time, he demanded that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh must clarify his stand on the statement of his Cabinet Minister. People of Punjab are in State of trauma and Ministers in the Government, rather than correcting the situation, are issuing bizarre statements, he said.

Phoolka said that it is well known that the gangs in State cannot operate without political patronage and political leaders use them for their own purposes. “The gangs are operating in State for last 15 years, earlier Akalis were using them for their political purposes and with change of guard in State, now the Congress leaders are patronising them,” he alleged.

“The police chief of state himself admitted before media that more than 50 gangs are operating in state so it is the duty of the Government to give free hand to police to catch the gangsters,” he said.
