AAP constitutes 3-member panel to streamline future joining in Punjab

Sending across a clear message that getting entry into the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fold is not easy, the party has constituted a three-member panel to decide upon all the future joinings.

The panel, comprising of AAP’s national organisational secretary Durgesh Pathak, Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann and party’s State convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, would be “final decision making body” before any one joined the party at any level in Punjab.

The decision, taken during the State’s Election Campaign Committee held on late Saturday evening, came at a time when many leaders from other political parties and prominent faces have already joined AAP, including Congress’ Sukhpal Khaira, and former journalist Kanwar Sandhu, among others.

Also, AAP has time and again claimed that many more leaders from other political parties have also sent feelers to the party.

“After having detailed deliberations and consultations with the various members of the election campaign committee, it has been decided to constitute a central panel which would be the final decision making body on the issue of anyone joining the party in Punjab,” said the party’s national spokesperson and Punjab party affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh.

He said: “All zonal and sector in-charge and also the central observers of the party in Punjab have been  informed with immediate effect that they should not decide or effect any new joining in the party without or before consulting the central panel. The decision has been taken to streamline the various joinings in the party all across the state”.
