AAP leader and party’s candidate from Kharar Assembly segment, Kanwar Sandhu on Saturday assailed Punjab Congress Chief Capt Amarinder Singh for being anti-poor and anti-dalit.
He said Congress Candidate of Samrala, Amrik Singh Dhillon lodged a complaint against AAP for propagating welfare schemes for the aforesaid sections of the society.
Talking to reporters, Sandhu said Captain Amarinder has always been anti-poor and anti-dalit as it has already been proved through his acts during his five year tenure as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2007. AAP leader said when Captain Amarinder was Chief Minister he not only imposed a blanket ban on the fresh recruitment drive into the government jobs, but also discontinued pensions of the employees apart from other welfare schemes.
Sandhu said Captain’s Government in 2002 in fact discontinued all the welfare schemes initiated by the previous government for the benefit of old-aged, disabled and Dalits.
Claiming that AAP is the only political party, which always initiates welfare schemes for poor people, Sandhu said while adding that intention of AAP for the welfare of poor could be gauged from the fact that recently Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government has introduced monthly pension of `500 for old-
aged persons.
