Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday asserted that the main contest of the SAD-BJP Government in the 2017 Assembly elections would be against the totally weakened party of frustrated people — the Congress as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) “bubble” would also burst just like the People’s Party Punjab (PPP).
AAP would meet the fate worse than the PPP did in the 2012 polls, he said while speaking on the sidelines of second and last day of his Sangat Darshan of Patiala-II constituency.
He said that the party wants to grab power in a prosperous State like Punjab just to keep the pot of confrontation boiling with the Union Government. “Kejriwal has sole agenda of using Punjab for his narrow political aspirations otherwise he has nothing to do with Punjab’s interests,” he said asking the people to be wary of lies and false promises of AAP leaders.
Sukhbir said that 2017 polls would be fought under the leadership of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who would be the party’s star campaigner.
“Punjab is marching rapidly on course to scaling more heights of development which is greatly helped by the state friendly government headed by alliance partner BJP at the Centre,” he said.
Sukhbir also divulged that in the previous two years, the Narendra Modi government has given developmental projects worth Rs 30,000 crore to Punjab. He appealed to the masses to again vote for the SAD-BJP combine in 2017 assembly polls in order to maintain the momentum of the development journey.
Earlier addressing a huge gathering, Sukhbir said that SAD-BJP government has lived up to its promises which is quite evident from the all roads being four and six laned besides two international airports at Mohali and Amritsar, industrial parks at Mohali and Rajpura and an e-Cycle valley coming up at ludhiana.
Also taking a dig at Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh in his bastion Patiala, he said that the overall record of SAD-BJP government on the scale of development is matchless and on the other hand, Capt Amarinder “has not visited even one ward of Patiala then how can be of any help to the people of the state”.
Making an important announcement, he said that the small choe of Patiala would be concretized at a cost of Rs 13 crore and further attention would be paid to its beautification. He also made an announcement to construct solid roads, their maintenance and inviting tenders for fire services.
