Terming the Central Government as an “alliance of jumlebaazs”, the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday raised question over the Akali-BJP Government’s decision to scrap Banga-Mata Naina Devi road project, costing Rs 470 crores.
“Just before Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, the Union Minister Nitin Ghadkari, addressing a poll rally at Ropar, promises to built 58.40 kms long Sri Anandpur Sahib-Mata Naina Devi road line but the Centre has now stepped back from the promise,” said AAP Ropar MLA Amarjeet Singh Sandoa and party candidate for Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat Narinder Singh Shergill, in a joint statement.
They said that the Government, by doing it, has played with the feelings of lakhs of devotees visiting the shrine every year. At the same time, they accused Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra of being partner in making fake promises to the people of Punjab.
AAP leaders said that it is shameful that Chandumajra is now trying to hide the fact by accusing the officers of stalling the project while people know that it is just an act of eyewash.
Sandoa and Shergill asked Chandumajra if he accept that the officer lobby is running the Central Government, and the elected representatives have no say in its functioning. “If the situation is that worst, why don’t Chandumajra and Harsimrat Badal resign from their seats and scrap the alliance with BJP. The project carries historical, religious and financial importance so it should be built at any cost,” they said.
